This group is dedicated to watching over Milford's precious natural resources and seeking out ecological areas that are threatened and misused. Milford has an extensive shoreline along the Long Island Sound and Housatonic River plus many hundreds of acres of woodlands. As new buildings and houses go up, these areas are slowly disappearing. If Milford is your home, there is no better way to protect our existing woodlands and shoreline than by participating in a forum that seeks to maintain the …

From the time we first came together as a nation there have been citizens calling for the creation of a US Department of Peace. The first bill calling for the creation of a peace department was introduced by Senator Matthew Neely of West Virginia in 1935, but the country was not ready to embrace such a bill. The time is now. Right now there is a bill in the House that calls for the creation of a cabinet level US Department of Peace. We are working to convince our district Representatives to b …

Hi! I have a very social 10-month old son who would really benefit from having friends to play with his own age! I'd like to start a playgroup of 6-10 moms with similar aged children (born 9/1/10 to 8/1/11). I live in Middletown but we could include the surround close towns of Cromwell, Portland, Middlefield, and Durham. We could meet one afternoon a week, on whatever schedule works best for the group (I'm flexible!) Each week a different mom could host the group. Whether at their own home or a …

We're a group of friends who get together to visit museums, dine at new restaurants, and go on mini excursions. I originally created this group as a means to get myself out of the house and away from food, which I tend to use as emotional support. It's turned out to be a great group of people sharing laughs over good food and other fun events. That might seem contradictory, but our meet ups are what eating should be... nourishing but delicious food shared with people you love. (Instead o …

We teach creative writing in small groups and have many sections. We also teach screenwriting, writing for children, memoir, songwriting and have a teen program in July. We add classes all the time. We hold all kinds of community events such as author talks, poetry open-mic and our monthly Storytelling Fridays. Downstairs we have a dedicated writers' room where …
